April 18, 2025 – Jump, Car, and Arm

I was walking around a kind of neighborhood, waiting near a car for someone. In front of me was a four-story building, quite old (like the Chaudron neighborhoods, for example), and I saw a family gathering on the balcony, which had no railing. A little girl came out. I turned my head, but I didn’t hear a “splosh” or the sound of a body hitting the ground. I turned back and saw she was fine. Several of her siblings, as well as her mother, jumped after her. I figured if they were used to it, it must not be dangerous. Plus, it saves a whole trip down the stairs.

I was in a car, still in that same neighborhood, with friends. The driver was parking. I told him I needed to change my t-shirt and to wait for me a bit further where we were headed. While I was changing, I felt the car moving. It was tilting, slowly sliding down. Panicking, I tried to engage the handbrake to stop the vehicle completely, but it only made things worse. The car ended up at the bottom of a sort of slope, and it was going to be hard to get it out. I got out and felt terribly guilty.

In a virtual world, I was watching in third-person a kind of silly female avatar. At first, she was with friends, but then she decided to explore on her own. She ended up in a small room with a red wall that had a strange texture (like thousands of red pennants glued to the wall). She reached forward to touch the wall. At first, it seemed harmless, but then she realized her left arm was starting to get eaten away. She quickly pulled back. Leaving the room, she went to a small cake stand. It looked like avatars who were collecting tokens for a school fair or something like that. Refusing to pay for something, she offered to give them her left arm instead, since she wanted to use the other one to write her novel. "That's nice, but without a typewriter, how are we supposed to use your arm? An arm on its own is useless," one of the vendors replied. She didn’t listen, completely caught up in the idea that she was going to write her novel.
